preppin for a baby...

IM HAVING A BABY!....just kidding! No way jose would I be having a child right now. A friend of mine is though, and I volunteered to make all the decorations for her shower since you know, its what I love to do :)
Let me tell you I am having way too much fun creating all the little details for it. I dont know what it is that gets me all happy and giddy, like a kid in a candy store when it comes to party planning/decorating...but I LOVE it!

Color Me Rad- San Jose

(No I dont live in San Jose)
Let me prepare you and get you ready for the greatest, funiest run EVER! okay, okay, its been my only run I've been in, BUT trust me when I say it is the best! Non-stop rainbow color explosions in your face, everyone running trying to get so much color on them all you can taste and burp is powdered corn (yes, the colors are mixed with corn starch)...your glasses get so covered you cant even see while running but that doesn't matter because all you are focused on is getting to the next color spot and rolling around in it!
It was great, and even more great that even after the run the streets were still surrounded with people and color. We sat for brunch and more than half the people had run the same race, we brought the explosion even after the run was over! Now thats what I am talking about!

Necklace restyled.

From this...
to this...
with only using nail polish. I actually got this idea here, I had this necklace that I wore on my birthday and it was perfect for the occasion but not really a necklace that would be used very often. So instead of having another necklace hanging in my closet with a bunch others I don't wear, I decided to make it more wearable :) I definitely wouldn't recommend using a favorite nail polish because you are going to need 2-3 coats, maybe even 4 depending on the colors of the necklace and you end up using a lot of it. After I suggest adding a top clear coat to make it really shine. I literally want to re-paint every tacky necklace I come across now!

DIY: mini fabric journal

What you need: fabric, journal, mod podge, sponge.
Take your journal, I used mini moleskin journals. Lay it down open on your fabric, cut your fabric leaving about an inch around. Use your sponge and lather a good amount of mod podge on front and back cover, lay fabric on the journal and press firmly (I laid a large book on top of mine for a few minutes to be sure the fabric held) use mod podge again and wrap excess fabric around the insides of the front and back flaps. Pull fabric to get it tight and smooth all around the journal (I again put a large book on top of the mini journal for a few minutes).
After it has completely dried I added a few cute bottons, you could add any accent you want to make it even more cute if the look of the fabric isnt enough for you :) thats easy enough!

DIY: Nail polish...not for nails

I had this busted up enamel brooch I bought a long time ago at a thrift store and told myself that one day I would re-paint it and fix it up. Finally did just that! with using...say what? Nail polish!
I should of shown how busted up this brooch was but I got too eager to just start painting it! You can kind of see on the stem. Anyway, take any type of nail polish I used about four different brands of nail polish in which all worked perfectly (quick dry nail polish is a plus too!) Paint it up and let it dry. Since nail polish is already shiny (unless its matted) you don't really need a top coat but you do want the extra protection from chipping. Next on my list to try is on this necklace I have that was perfect for the attire I wore it with, but one that probably wont be worn again for ages.

DIY: rock necklace

I made these 2 necklaces with rocks I picked up at the antique fair last weekend. I dont know the correct name of the little metal backing pieces are, but you will need some of those along with some leather or a chain (I used a chain from another necklace) and E-6000 glue.
take your metal backing and your E-6000 glue and glue it to the back of the rocks. Be sure you place them so you don't see any metal when they are flipped over. The circle part should lay flush with the rock, not sticking out the top. Let them sit for a few hours, or even over night to be sure they are secure. PS. if you don't own E-6000 glue I suggest you go out and buy some because it is perfect for jewelry...or anything for that matter!
Add your chain, or leather, or anything you want to use. See, super simple right? Something that could easily cost you over $20 in stores only cost about $5 to make. SCORE :)

brainstorming.

I've been collecting my thoughts & ideas for soon to come DIYs that have been pondering in my head. I just need to tell myself to sit down and actually do them/finish them...I kind of have a habit where I start something and than leave it be for a while before coming back and finishing it.
